Principal RE Specialist 122866 Zurich North America is hiring an Risk Engineering Specialist to join our Quality and Compliance Risk Engineering team! We are open to hiring talent in one of the following locations: This position can be placed anywhere in the U.S, with a preference of our U.S Headquarters in Schaumburg Illinois. **Purpose:** Contribute to the development of a quality approach that enables technical development both individually and across the department. Conduct reviews of completed quality reviews for reviewer alignment and calibration. Support the segment quality review process. Support field managers and RE staff as requested to review work products technically and provide development feedback and support **The ideal candidate will have a strong casualty background including training and technical expertise. Property knowledge is a plus.** **High Level Interpreter** - **The job's core deliverables rely on disseminating specialized or complex information, instruction and training to others within the organization, including senior management. Typically requires specialist training in communication and writing.** **Job Accountabilities:** + Identify areas of systematic and technical knowledge gaps/strengths through review of completed quality reviews, individual technical quality reviews & discussions with the segment teams. + Support the development and delivery of training solutions to address these gaps at scale. + Apply a systemic/root cause approach to understand factors impacting our quality and incorporate them into training. + Drive a collaborative process that seeks to provide insight to managers and coaching to the RE staff. + Stay current on the Global/North American technical standards and guidance to assure the accuracy of support. + Engage with the NA and Global Tech Centers to understand emerging issues and losses for incorporation into support. + Engage with managers to support regional and individual quality efforts. + Provide coaching to managers, reviewers and staff members to enhance quality. + Develop an ongoing communication strategy of the technical quality approach to provide transparency & trust in the process. + Support the development of summary reports in conjunction with the RE Quality leader. + Document improvement in staff and manager quality performance based on support provided or encouraged through the quality process. + Partner with the property educational leader and Property LOB leaders to support improvement. + Business Travel, as required + Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required + Maintain a Valid Driver's License, as required + Regular Predictable Attendance **Additional Job Functions:** + Conduct focused technical quality studies as requested by senior leaders and the Technical Operations manager. + Leads or participates in technical quality projects as required. **Business Accountabilities:** + Develop and manage quality processes relevant to technical risk engineering standards in order to ensure they are in line with strategic business objectives. + Participate as a risk engineering technical specialist to enable the implementation of quality projects and change initiatives. + Support the technical quality and professional standards of the risk engineering function to deliver a consistently high-quality service to customers. + Engage support teams (e.g. Administration/IT) who enable the risk engineering business to deliver quality to customers. + Develop, propose and, where appropriate, lead the implementation of initiatives to improve our technical quality processes and generate innovation in this area. + Support the ongoing analysis of the technical quality process to determine the value and impact of the approach and the need for change or enhancements. + Provide Thought Leadership for technical quality initiatives. + Provide advice and direct support in the mentoring and training of risk engineers for technical quality improvement. + Responsible for the accuracy of technical reviews and quality of support provided to influence positive change. **Performance Management Accountabilities:** + Model behaviors that demonstrate commitment to corporate values. + Contribute to creating a high-performance and positive approach to our quality process that encourages management and staff participation with agreement on results. + Provide technical quality direction/advice within and outside of the organization. + Provide guidance and mentoring support for RE team members as requested. + Take action to manage your own personal development and encourage others to do the same. Basic Qualifications: + Bachelor's Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering areaOR + High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineering area **Preferred** Qualifications: + Advanced knowledge of Risk Engineering methodologies and the insurance industry + Advanced skills and experience in consulting and partnering with business leaders + Excellent organization and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence at various levels + Excellent problem-identification skills + Advanced knowledge of risk engineering methodologies and insurance industry At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled.
