Description

The Senior Underwriter for Fine Art and Specie plays a pivotal role in driving the growth and profitability of our fine art specialty product lines. This position requires marketing acumen and the ability to underwrite and manage a range of products and services tailored to meet standard risks, including those that may necessitate special handling or unique coverage solutions. We seek a candidate with a deep and functional understanding of fine art underwriting concepts, practices, and techniques. This includes expertise in coverage issues, product lines, innovative marketing strategies, relevant systems, and an acute awareness of the competitive landscape. Please note that travel will be an essential aspect of this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and negotiates policy terms and conditions with assistance from the manager.
  • Underwrites targeted new and renewal business of by reviewing and analyzing insured's (or prospective insured's) overall exposure, aggregations, protection, loss prevention controls, loss history, financials, portfolio management, and other pertinent information at the direction of the manager.
  • Adherence to individualized underwriting authority guidelines and rating structure.
  • Evaluates fine art valuations and references secondary market for any variances in insured values.
  • Communicates with other product line underwriters and claims analysts in order to provide comprehensive customer service.
  • Contributes to the development of marketing plans, product analysis, services, geographic focus and broker intelligence.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with the brokerage community to facilitate marketing of Liberty Specialty Markets products and services and generate new business opportunities. This will include travel.
  • Performs related duties as requested to include report preparation, presentations, and special projects to assist in ensuring the success of the product line unit.
  • Involvement in art community organizations, conferences, art fairs and speaker panels.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Industry designation or professional degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years underwriting experience in Fine Arts and/or High Net Worth Inland Marine
  • Requires knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and decision making skills are also required.
  • Established broker network in the fine arts and/or high net worth space. And ability to leverage that network to grow Liberty's position in the domestic marketplace
  • Must be a collaborative, team player that can provide creative solutions to problems.
  • Knowledge of functionality of systems including outstanding technical skills with Microsoft Office and other relevant systems.
