Description

We are seeking an Executive Underwriting Manager (EUM) for Major's Property's Northeast Underwriting Division. Within Liberty Mutual's Global Risk Solutions line of business, the Major's Property unit distributes, underwrites and services large business accounts. The National Insurance Property segment is a key contributor to Liberty Mutual's diversification strategy and the Company has identified it as an important growth opportunity.

We are seeking a collaborative, efficient and forward-thinking senior leader who can harness the existing strengths of Major's Property's Northeast division to drive profitable growth for large businesses. The Executive Underwriting Manager will be asked to improve performance and expand our capabilities while leading a team of experienced underwriters and underwriting support professionals.

The Executive Underwriting Manager will also collaborate with peer senior leaders across the organization and will have visibility at the most senior levels of National Insurance.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the Major's Property strategy for the Northeast Division to ensure that Division achieves its overall business objectives in terms of profitability, rate adequacy, risk tolerance and growth.
  • Maintaining strong broker and client relationships, while identifying opportunities to build broader strategic alliances.
  • Leading and developing an experienced underwriting team, continuing to shape and foster an elite property underwriting organization. This EUM will be responsible for driving the strategic vision for the organization through the Northeast Division and driving operational excellence.
  • Working closely with the General Manager, Large Property and peer Executive Underwriting Managers to set strategies to profitably grow the business, develop new products and penetrate new market segments.
  • Establishing a highly visible presence within the marketplace and industry. This individual will continue to build brand awareness of Liberty Mutual's Major's Property business in the Northeast Division.
  • Collaborating with business leaders within Liberty to share knowledge and identify mutually beneficial business opportunities.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
  • A minimum of 10 years progressive property underwriting experience expected, including a minimum of 4 years of proven underwriting management experience, preferred.
  • CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.
  • Proven analytical ability to evaluate high impact underwriting risks within scope of responsibility.
  • Demonstrated expert-level ability to communicate complex analyses and information.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external partners required.
  • Must possess the following skills, abilities and attributes: strong leadership skills, development of people, strategic thinking, sustained effective portfolio management and profitable growth, communications skills, decision-making skills, results-oriented, industrious, innovative, problem-solving skills, coaching and mentoring skills, and negotiating skills.
